Pakistan’s Ambassador to United Nations, Munir Akram, held meeting with UNSecretary-General Antonio Guterres and apprised him about the worseninghuman rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir andthe concomitant threat to regional peace and security.
The Pakistani ambassador urged the UN chief to take steps to promote peacein South Asia.
Munir Akram also expressed alarm at the continuing extrajudicial killingsin staged encounters and fake cordon-and-search operations, as well asarbitrary detentions and crimes against humanity by Indian occupationforces in Kashmir.
The ambassador also drew the attention of the secretary-general towardsIndian Home Minister’s “callous” statement threatening to conduct so-called“surgical strikes” against Pakistan.
He said Pakistan desires peace with India but it will spare no effort toresolutely thwart any aggressive designs by India.
The Secretary-General expressed concerns on the worsening situation inIndian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and promised to make effortstowards de-escalation.
