At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for preservation of balance inthe defence capabilities of states at lowest level of armaments andmilitary forces.
Speaking in a thematic debate in the General Assembly’s First Committee,Pakistan’s envoy Khalil Hashmi underscored the special responsibility ofstates with larger military capabilities in promoting agreements forregional security and undiminished security for all.
He said Pakistan has proposed bilateral or regional initiatives that buildconfidence, reduce risks, and conform to the cardinal principle of equaland undiminished security for all.
Khalil Hashmi said emerging technologies are outpacing existing norms onEarth, in outer space and in the cyber-domain.
He said the international community must develop commensurate norms, rulesand laws to control and regulate them in all their dimensions.
