The European Union has announced one-billion-euro aid package forAfghanistan.
In a statement, the Bloc’s Chief, Ursula Von Der Leyen said the money,pledged at a virtual G20 summit, adds 250 million euros to a300-million-euro sum the EU previously announced for urgent humanitarianneeds, with the remainder going to Afghanistan’s neighbouring countriestaking in Afghans fleeing Taliban rule.
