Thousands of farmers in India continue protest against Modi government

In India, thousands of farmers continue protests and staged sit-ins againstcontroversial black agricultural laws passed by Modi government.

Talking to international media, farmers like Bapu Nishtar Singh said thelaws are an attempt to erode a longstanding minimum support price for theircrops assured by the government and will enable a few corporations tocontrol vast agriculture sector.

Thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh statesmarched on their tractors, motorbikes and on foot to New Delhi to putpressure on the government to repeal black laws. They were stopped fromentering the capital, and now they have established camps outside New Delhi.

Hundreds of tents have been pitched along three key highways leading toPunjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh states where farmers have set upmakeshift kitchens, clinics, and even libraries sending out a clear messageto the fascist Indian government that they are ready for a long haul.
