Media Reports of plane hijacking at Kabul Airport

KABUL – Ukrainian officials denied the reports of plane hijacking inAfghanistan saying all aircrafts had returned safely amid the evacuationprocess.

Hours after Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister claimed that armed hijackersseized the passenger jet at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai international airport, theUkrainian foreign office has now come out with a denial.

Oleg Nikolenko while clearing the air on the incident said that “newsreports about the hijacked aircraft did not correspond to reality”.

Earlier, media reports revealed that armed hijackers took control of thepassenger plane, which had arrived in Kabul to evacuate Ukrainians and thenflew it to Iran.

Furthermore, Iran’s Aviation authorities also denied the hijacking butadmitted that the aircraft landed at Mashhad for refueling after which ittook off for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, all flights from the Kabul Airport have been suspended in wakeof an uncertain situation. Clips with chaotic situations have surfaced atthe Kabul airport in recent days as countries across the world ramp upefforts to evacuate their citizens following the Taliban takeover.
