A car of Chinese link people came underfire when unknown assailants sprayed it with bullets injuring a Chineselink man in Gulbai area of Karachilink. The Chineselink ministry has confirmed theincident saying China is fully confident that the Pakistani side willensure the safety of Chinese link nationalsand assets in Pakistan.
DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz said that a car in which Chineselink were travelling came under fire nearGulbai area of Karachi link on Wednesday.He stated that three people including a driver and two Chineselink who were sitting on the back seatswere travelling in the car.
The DIG further said that the Chineselinkgoing to a factory in Site Area from their residence in Defence, KhiyabadBadr area in a car.
Police recorded the statement of the driver of the car. He said that atsome place near Maripur Road, some assailants opened fire on the car. Hestated that it was difficult to say where exactly the incident of firinghappened due to the traffic rush.
He said that the bullets came from the right side of the car but he did nothear any sound of the firing. One Chineselink hit by bullets but the otherremained unscathed. The driver stated that he came to know about the firingwhen one of the Chinese link got injuredby bullets.
The DIG said that the injured received three bullets, two bullets hit hisarms and one bullet passed by hitting his face. He reckoned that theassailants might have used a gun with silencer. He informed that thecondition of the injured foreigner was out of danger.
He said the police had started investigation considering all aspects.
The Chinese link foreign ministryspokesman Zhao Lijian also confirmed the incident.
“China is following this matter closely and the relevant case is stillunder investigation,” said Zhao.
“This incident is an isolated case. We are fully confident that thePakistani side will ensure the safety of Chineselink and assets in Pakistan,” headded.
