UN warns Pakistan over cross border terrorist attacks from Afghanistan

NEW YORK – A recent report of the United Nations alarmed Pakistaniauthorities to stay vigilant against cross-border terrorist threats from(TTP) operating from Afghan soil.

The 28th report of the UN Monitoring Team submitted to the UN SecurityCouncil said reiterated cross-border terrorist threats posed by theTehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan owing to its reunification and strengthening inwar raged Afghanistan.

The outlawed terror organization has increased its financial resources fromextortion, smuggling, and taxes, the report further added.

Earlier, it was revealed that Afghan and Indian intelligence agencies gavefunds and other assistance to TTP militants to attack Islamabad and bothKabul and New Delhi have staged terror to sabotage the Afghan peace process.

Pakistan has also been particularly concerned about the strengthening ofTTP and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) in Afghan soil as a result of externalfinancial and material support. It has also shared strong evidence of theIndian support to the terror organizations.

Pakistan’s security concerns emanating from terrorist groups in Afghanistanhave been amplified in the backdrop of the withdrawal of internationalforces from Afghanistan, and there has been a significant spike in thenumber of cross-border terrorist attacks against Pakistan in recent times.

*Pakistan deploys Army troops along Afghan border*

Pakistan Army troops have been deployed along the Pak-Afghan border asFrontier Constabulary (FC) and other militias had been called back amidvolatile situation in Afghanistan.

The deteriorating situation in Afghanistan warranted not only thecontainment of the influx of refugees from Afghanistan but also the entryof Afghan army personnel and militants into Pakistan.

Earlier this month, Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yusufsaid the initial investigation into the recent terrorist blast in Lahorehas provided concrete evidence of Indian involvement in terroristactivities in Pakistan.
