Former PM Imran Khan to take another important step before the new general elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former primeminister Imran Khan on Monday said his party was going to file a referencein court against the chief election commissioner (CEC).

“An independent body should appoint a chief election commissioner,” ImranKhan said admitting that his government made mistake in appointing the CEC.Talking to journalists, he said he did not know that the CEC would turn outto be a bias person.

It is pertinent here to mention that Imran Khan’s government, after itscontroversial decision of dissolving the National Assembly by rejecting theno-confidence motion against him, had asked the Election Commission ofPakistan to hold general elections within 90 days, for which the ECP hadexcused saying that it was not prepared for the elections.
