LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to movecourt against stopping the chief minister-elect from taking the oath of hisoffice.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, PML-N spokesperson Malik MuhammadAhmed Khan said that the Article 130 of the constitution demands theelection of the chief minister.
“We are facing an unusual situation. Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi was thecandidate for the slot of the chief minister as well as speaker. Thespeaker can do what he wants. Firstly, he wanted to postpone the session,”he added.
The PML-N spokesperson said that it was constitutional responsibility ofthe deputy speaker to be above the party. “The court had ordered the deputyspeaker to conduct the elections at all costs,” he maintained.
