After electricity crises, new government faces another serious crisis

ISLAMABAD: Along with electricity, water crisis is on the rise in thecountry and provinces are facing 26% water shortfall.

According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA) sources, Pakistan’slargest dam Tarbela has been empty for 53 days after which IRSAdirected the provinces for Joint Discharge Measurements (JDMs).

IRSA sources said that the flow of water in the rivers is 8000 cusecless than last year, the flow of water in Chenab and Jhelum rivers isnot increasing and Punjab is being provided 52000 cusec water insteadof 70000 while Sindh supply is 33,000 cusecs instead of 44,000.
