Pakistan Army will not allow certain quarters to create division between Army and Pakistani society

Rawalpindi: A meeting of top Pakistan Army officials on Tuesday took noticeof the recent criticism directed at the institution on social media andexpressed complete confidence in the leadership’s “well-considered stanceto uphold the Constitution and the rule of law”,

According to a statement issued from the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR), the 79th Formation Commanders’ Conference was held at the GeneralHeadquarters that was attended by the army’s corps commanders, principalstaff officers and all formation commanders and presided over by Chief ofArmy Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

“The forum took note of the recent propaganda campaign by some quarters tomalign [the] Pakistan Army and create division between the institution andsociety.

“National security of Pakistan is sacrosanct. Pakistan Army has alwaysstood by the state institutions to guard it and always will, without anycompromise,” the ISPR statement said.

It added that the forum expressed “complete confidence in the leadership’swell-considered stance to uphold the Constitution and rule of law at allcosts”.

The ISPR said that the meeting was briefed on the “professional matters,national security challenges and measures being undertaken to countertraditional and non-traditional threats”.

The military’s media wing said that the army chief “expressed satisfactionover operational preparedness of formations and response mechanism to dealwith emerging challenges”.

The meeting also paid tribute to the sacrifices of officers and men for thesecurity of borders and the safety of the masses.
