*LAHORE: Ahead of an all-important task to elect a new chief minister afterUsman Buzdar’s resignation, the Punjab Assembly session has been adjournedtill April 16. *
The session, with the election of new chief minister on the agenda, was dueto be held tomorrow (April 6) but now the Deputy Speaker Dost MuhammadMazari has adjourned the session till April 16, citing some repair work inthe assembly.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and allies will be backing Chaudhry PervaizElahi for the post while the opposition alliance’s joint candidate is PML-Nleader Hamza Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier, ARY News reportedlink thatthe PTI government is considering three options to make sure its nomineePervaiz Elahi gets elected as CM Punjab and out of them, one was to delaythe session for now.
