ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday, while expressing his wonderover the opposition parties� ongoing tactics, advised them to go to thepublic and contest the next elections.
During his televised public interaction in �Aapka Wazir-e-Azam Aap KaySaath� programme, the prime minister said during the last three and ahalf years, the opposition only wanted to get NRO-II (NationalReconciliation Ordinance) and their whole efforts revolved around thatobjective.
What the opposition was doing in the Supreme Court as he had announcedelections, and why they wanted restoration of the National Assembly,he questioned. Their efforts were focused on just to return to powerso that they could do away with the National Accountability Bureau bysecuring NRO-II, he added.
Responding to various public queries, the prime minister said theopposition leaders had always played fixed matches and now theirefforts were afoot to secure their vested interests by ending thecorruption cases.
Replying to the query of a caller, the prime minister said in the nextelections, they would give party tickets to those persons who onlythought of the country. It was better to lose than emerge triumphantwith such �turncoats�.
He said the recent purchase of loyalties of the members of parliamentby the opposition had undermined the democratic values in the country.
The prime minister informed that tonight along with his party leadersand workers he would participate in a procession outside the Red Zonein Islamabad to register protest against the opposition for playing apart in the foreign conspiracy.
He said he had complete confidence in the nation to reject thoseelements who had sold out their loyalties for their petty personalinterests.
The prime minister urged the people to hold peaceful demonstrationsagainst such shabby tactics of horse-trading. The letter which wasshared in the National Security Committee and a parliamentarycommittee was a clear evidence, which also proved the opposition�srole in the foreign planned conspiracy to topple the governmentthrough a vote of no-confidence.
He said the National Assembly speaker had rejected their vote ofno-confidence on such basis, adding that he wanted everyone to holdprotest so that the parliamentarians and political parties should havefears of public reaction and they should budge from indulgence intosuch acts.
The prime minister further urged the people to stand with virtue andnegate vices by resisting the dacoits and thieves.
He said the opposition had fears that if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafgovernment completed its tenure, their political gimmickry would endforever like in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where in the second phase oflocal government elections, the people had voted for the PTI,eliminating all other political parties.
The prime minister said for the last 30 years, the opposition leadershad been ruling the country and turned the country into beggars.
Referring to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader ShehbazSharif�s comments of �beggars not choosers�, the prime minister saidsuch leaders had turned the nation into beggars by serving the foreignagenda and securing their personal interests.
The prime minister said he wanted to make it clear that he had neverbeen against any country. He opposed the US-led war in Afghanistan,but he had never been anti-US.
He further said he wanted good relations with all the countries basedon mutual respect, adding that he would not accept any policies whichwere against the interests of the people of Pakistan. �Death is betterthan such servitude,� he maintained.
The prime minister said it was an insult to the whole country when aruler of 220 million people held talks with the president of apowerful country by holding a paper in his hand.
He said the Quaid-e-Azam had been a leader who was respected by allhis opponents due to towering qualities of his character.
The prime minister criticized the performance of the Sindh governmentby terming it the �worst� because it had failed to alleviate povertyand unemployment in the province.
He regretted that Karachi had been lagging behind in terms of progressand development.
The prime minister proposed for introduction of modern local and citygovernment systems for the mega cities so that they could generatetheir own revenues and overcome their issues.
He also cited the major achievements of his government on the economicfront, including the highest growth rate, increase in exports, boomingof textile and construction industries, highest remittances, tax andwealth collection.
He also appreciated the performance of former Punjab chief ministerUsman Buzdar for his tireless efforts to develop the province.
The prime minister said the facility of Sehat Cards had been thebiggest relief for the poor families.
