Islamabad: The joint Opposition on Sunday said Imran Niazi had todaycommitted open rebellion (coup) against the country and the Constitution–the punishment of which is mentioned in Article 6 of the Constitution.
“Imran Niazi’s revolt deserves less condemnation. Today is the darkest dayin the history of the country in which rebellion against the constitution,democracy, law and political ethics have taken place,” said a jointstatement issued by the joint Opposition.
The statement strongly condemned the unconstitutional and non-parliamentaryactions and attitudes of all government groups including the SpeakerNational Assembly and termed them unconstitutional.
The statement further said the united opposition had proved its clearmajority in the Lower House while it has also become clear that theOpposition had a clear majority of the members of the House.
“The Opposition will like to thank all those members who listened to theirconscience and followed the voice of the Constitution and the people ofPakistan.”
The statement said that the Opposition members appreciated the move of theChief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the situation.
