COAS General Bajwa calls for unified approach to counter terrorism

Peshawar: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visitedCorps Headquarters Peshawar today. COAS was given detailed briefing onprevailing security situation and progress of development works in newlymerged districts.

COAS appreciated security forces for providing enabling environment for thecompletion of socio-economic development projects in the newly mergeddistricts, vital for enduring stability and sustainable progress of thearea.

COAS said that there is a need for whole of the nation approach and unifiedresponse to counter extremism and defeat terrorism decisively.

Later, COAS attended Namaz e Janaza of Capt Saad Bin Amir Shaheed and L/NkMuhammad Irfan who both embraced Shahadat while gallantly fighting theterrorists in South Waziristan. Governor KP Shah Farman and provincialministers were also present.

COAS reiterated the resolve of Pakistan Army to fight against terrorismtill elimination of this menace. COAS vowed that sacrifices of Shuhada willnot go in vain and complete peace will return to Pakistan.

Earlier, on arrival at Corps Headquarters, COAS was received by LieutenantGeneral Faiz Hamid Commander Peshawar Corps.
