The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has adopted a resolutionendorsing Pakistan’s call for a joint probe to accurately establish thefacts surrounding 9th March incident of firing of a missile into Pakistanfrom India.
It was passed by the 48th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministersin Islamabad.
The OIC Foreign Ministers expressed serious concern on the incident whichconstituted multiple violations of international law, UN charter, civilaviation rules and safety protocols, and endangered human life and propertybesides posing a grave threat to regional and international peace, securityand stability.
The resolution called on the UN Secretary General and other relevantinternational bodies to pursue the matter with India in line with theirmandated duties to accurately establish the facts to prevent suchoccurrences in the future.
It exhorted the international community to take serious notice of theincident of grave nature in a nuclearized environment and play its role inupholding strategic stability in South Asia.
The OIC Foreign Ministers urged India to work constructively with Pakistanfor enhancing regional security and stability through the settlement ofoutstanding disputes and positively responding to Pakistan’s proposal for astrategic restraint regime, including measures for arms control, restraintand confidence building.
