PTI takes important decision on ban imposed on live speeches of Imran Khan

Former ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the banimposed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) onthe love coverage of former prime minister and PTIlink Chairman Imran Khan’s speecheslink in the Sindh and Lahore High Courts.

PTI link Sindh leader Ali Zaidi filed onWednesday a constitutional petition in the SHClink, in which he argued that the PEMRA’snotification was illegal. “The ban link imposedon the live coverage link of ImranKhan’s speeches link amounts to a banlink on freedom of speech,” he said, andadded, “Therefore, it is prayed to the court to not only declare thenotification illegal but also suspend it until and unless the fate of thispetition is decided.”

The ban link on Imran Khan’s speecheslink also challenged in the LahoreHigh Court (LHC) on Wednesday.

Justice Anwaar Hussain of the LHC linkMuhammad Khan Madni, the petitioner, to give arguments on the admissibilityof the petition on the next date of the hearing.

The judge asked him to satisfy the court whether ‘freedom of expression’was the right of the speaker only or also of the listener.
