Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar approaches Supreme Court of Pakistan

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has filed a petition in the Supreme Courtfor an early hearing of his case regarding declaring him as an absconderand freezing his assets.

According to sources, he filed an application in the supreme court with therequest that the case may be fixed for a hearing on August 25. It ispleaded in the application that the previous government had cancelled hispassport.

He is yet suffering from different diseases including backache andtreatment is yet going on. Thus, justice should be provided by fixing thecase for hearing early.

It is pertinent that an accountability court in 2017 declared Ishaq Dar anabsconder in a corruption reference after the former finance ministerrepeatedly failed to join the trial, remaining instead in London where hehas reportedly been undergoing medical treatment.
