*KARACHI: The Depression over North Arabian Sea, at a distance of about450km southwest of Karachi has moved in west-southwest direction duringlast 12 hours, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has stated in itsalert.*
The Depression (Intense Low-Pressure Area) now located near Latitude 22.0Nand Longitude 64.0 E, at a distance of 500km from Thatta and 350km South ofOrmara, according to the weather alert.
Maximum sustained surface winds are 45km per hr gusting to 55km/hr aroundthe system centre. The system is likely to move further westwards till theevening today and then recurve northeastwards and weaken gradually, the PMDsaid.
Currently none of Pakistan coastal area is under any threat from thisweather system, PMD Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre, Karachi is closelymonitoring the system and updates will be issued accordingly, weatheroffice said.
The well-marked low-pressure area after intensifying into a Depression onFriday is likely to move further westward till Saturday evening.
Widespread Rain-thunderstorms with a few heavy/very heavy falls andoccasional strong winds to occur in Karachi division, Tharparker, Umerkot,Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari,Thatta, Sujawal, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Noushero Feroz, Khairpur,Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro andKambar-Shahdadkot districts till 15 August with occasional gaps, Met Officesaid.
Sea conditions would remain very rough during next 2 days, the PMD said andadvised the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan not to venture into open seatill tomorrow night.
The weather office has also advised all concerned authorities to remainvigilant.
Rainfall intensity also to increase in northeastern and southern districtsof Balochistan which may trigger flash flooding in Dadu, Jamshoro, KambarShahdadkot districts and downstream.
