An Indian Army Jawan has been arrested for purportedly leaking militaryinformation after falling for a honey trap set by two Pakistani agents.
As per foreign media reports on Wednesday, 24-year-old Shantimoy Rana fromthe village Kachanpur in West Bengal, who was posted in the Artillery Unitin Jaipur, was arrested after a case under the Official Secrets Act 1923was registered against him.
The Director General (DG) of Intelligence Wing, Rajasthan Police, UmeshMishra, stated, “Pakistani agents Gurnaur Kaur alias Ankita, and Nisha hadcontacted the jawan through social media”.
The Intelligence Wing further revealed that later two women had acquiredRana’s number and used to talk to him on WhatsApp. They initially won histrust before proceeding to extract intelligence information from him. Itwas also found that some money had been transferred to Rana’s account inthis regard.
Rana said he had been serving in the Indian Army since March 2018 and hadbeen in contact with the undercover Pakistani agents for a long time viaWhatsApp chat, video, and audio messages.
‘Ankita’ is said to have introduced herself to Rana as a resident ofShahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where she claimed to be working in theMilitary Engineering Services. Additionally, Nisha had claimed to beworking in the Military Nursing Service.
