Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $1.810 billion during the first tenmonths (July-April) of 2021-22 compared to $1.684 billion during the sameperiod of last year, registering a growth of 7.43 percent, despite theincrease in local manufacturing, according to the Pakistan Bureau ofStatistics (PBS).
The overall telecom imports into the country during the period under review(July-April) 2021-22 increased by 14.05 percent going up from $2.116billion in July-April 2020-21 to $2.413 billion during the same period oflast period.
On a month-on-month basis, imports of mobile phones into Pakistan increasedby 43.56 percent during April 2022 and stood at $213.895 million whencompared to $183.894 million imported in March 2022, the PBS data revealed.
On a year-on-year basis, mobile phones witnessed a 16.31 percent growthwhen compared to $148.992 million in April 2021.
