Afghanistan supreme leader makes an appeal to the World

Afghanistan Supreme Leader called again Friday for the internationalcommunity to recognise the Taliban linkgovernment link, saying the world hadbecome a “small village” and proper diplomatic relations would help solvethe country’s problems.

No nation has formally recognised the regime installed by the Talibanlink after they seized power in August andreintroduced the hardline Islamist rule that is increasingly excludingwomen from public life.

In a written message ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end ofRamadan, supreme leader linkHibatullahAkhundzada did not mention international sticking points — includingreopening secondary schools for girls.

Instead, he said recognition link shouldcome first “so that we may address our problems formally and withindiplomatic norms and principles”.

“Undoubtedly, the world has transformed into a small village,” saidAkhundzada, who has not been seen in public for years and lives reclusivelyin Kandahar, the Taliban link spiritualheartland.
