A four-member delegation representing the Board of Control for Cricket inIndia (BCCI) arrived in Pakistan today through the Wagah Border for atwo-day visit. The leader of this delegation is BCCI President Roger Binny,and BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla is also playing a prominent roleduring this important visit to Pakistan.
This visit marks a significant event as it’s the first time a BCCIdelegation has visited Pakistan since 2008. The delegation’s main purposeis to hold discussions of mutual interest with officials from the PakistanCricket Board (PCB) and attend the Asia Cup 2023 match between Sri Lankaand Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. Additionally, they arelikely to be present at Pakistan’s Super Four match on Wednesday.
It’s important to note that this visit is solely focused on cricket andcarries no political implications. The Punjab Governor has organized adinner for the delegation in Lahore as a gesture of hospitality. Upon theirarrival at the Wagah Border, media coverage was restricted, and they weretaken to the Pearl Continental hotel with tight security measures in place,where teams from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh arecurrently staying. As a diplomatic gesture, the delegation will also attendan official dinner hosted at the Governor’s House.
