On September 1st, the Lahore High Court had ordered the release of PervezElahi and had also instructed not to arrest him in any case. However, NAB(National Accountability Bureau) has filed an appeal in the Islamabad HighCourt against the single bench’s decision regarding the release andnon-arrest of Pervez Elahi.
In the appeal, NAB argues that the single bench did not properly assessthe facts and issued the release order without considering the legality ofnot arresting him in any case. The appeal requests that the single bench’sdecision be legally set aside until a final decision is reached on appeal.
It is worth noting that on September 1st, after being released by theLahore High Court, Pervez Elahi was re-arrested by Islamabad Police when hereached Canal Road. The police apprehended him, took him into custody, andtransported him in a vehicle. According to authorities, Pervez Elahi hasbeen arrested for 15 days under the authority of the DCO (DeputyCommissioner Officer) and will be transferred to Adiala Jail for the sameperiod, although he was initially taken to Attock Jail that night.
