In Islamabad, Pakistan’s information minister, Murtaza Solangi, respondedto reports of unrest in Gilgit-Baltistan by stating, “Gilgit Baltistanremains a ‘heaven of peace.'” He clarified that the protests were a”natural political democratic response to local issues,” and emphasizedthat there had been “no shots fired, no damage to public and privateproperty.”
Solangi also mentioned that schools, colleges, markets, and roads wereoperating normally in the region, with peaceful protests occurringoccasionally in response to religious and sectarian concerns.
He added that no Army deployment had taken place, and the Pakistan Army wasprepared for community protection during upcoming events like Chehlum ofHazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
