In Islamabad, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has refutedclaims that they enlisted a foreign law firm to represent their top leaderin international courts regarding his detention in a high-security prisonfor nearly a month.
Khan, who was arrested on August 5th in Lahore, has been accused ofmishandling a confidential cable from Washington, despite the IslamabadHigh Court granting him bail in a separate case. Initially, PTI announcedthe hiring of barrister Geoffrey Ronald Robertson via social media platformX but later deleted the post and disavowed the information, stating, “Wehave not approached any judicial forum outside Pakistan nor have anyintention to do so.”
The PTI has been under scrutiny since Khan’s initial arrest on May 9th,resulting in widespread protests and allegations of false cases againstKhan. The party emphasizes its demand for justice within the Pakistanilegal system. Khan currently faces a prison trial under the OfficialSecrets Act.
