Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has stated this week that it has notappointed anyone as a lawyer to represent its leader Imran Khan ininternational courts. PTI had previously mentioned on Twitter last Fridaythat they had obtained the services of British barrister Geoffrey Robertsonfor their representation in international courts regarding Imran Khan’salleged “unlawful detention and violations of human rights.”
However, that tweet is no longer available. PTI’s spokesperson, RaufHassan, while speaking to Independent Urdu this week, clarified, “We havenot hired any lawyer for international courts, nor do we have any intentionto do so. There is propaganda being spread in this regard.”
The statement seems to address earlier reports suggesting that PTI hadengaged legal representation for Imran Khan’s cases in internationalcourts, particularly in light of allegations related to his detention andhuman rights violations.
This clarification from PTI emphasizes that they have not made such a hireand dismisses any notion of intent to do so, suggesting that there may bemisinformation or propaganda surrounding this issue.
