An anti-terrorism court has dismissed the plea for interim bail submittedby Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Vice Chairman of PTI and former foreignminister, in connection with two cases registered at Kahna police stationin Islamabad. The court had previously reserved its verdict on Qureshi’sbail application, and the proceedings were presided over by ATC Judge AbualHasnat Zulqarnain.
Representing the PTI leader, lawyer Ali Bokhari made an appearance beforethe court. At the commencement of the hearing, Qureshi’s lawyer presentedtwo petitions to the court, requesting a court order for his client’sproduction and his exemption from appearing in court on that particularday. Bokhari informed the court that Qureshi was presently under judicialremand in the cipher case at Adiala Jail and implored the court to extendbail for the PTI vice chairman.
On the opposing side, Prosecutor Raja Naveed contested the requests made byQureshi’s lawyer and urged the court to deny the bail application. Afterlistening to arguments from both parties, the court opted to reserve itsverdict on the matter.
