Government officer transfers approved by ECP

In Islamabad, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given itsapproval for the reassignment and relocation of 170 government officialswithin Balochistan. This decision comes in response to a request made bythe Balochistan government to facilitate the transfer process.Specifically, the ECP has granted authorization for the transfer of 34additional deputy commissioners, 84 assistant commissioners, eightdivisional commissioners, and 36 deputy commissioners. The ECP’s approvalof these transfers is substantiated by an official notification that hasbeen issued.

It’s important to note that prior to this decision, the ElectionCommission of Pakistan had implemented a ban on transfers and postings atthe federal level. This ban was put in place following the dissolution ofthe National Assembly and federal cabinet. The ECP’s directive was clear:transfers and postings were to be halted until a caretaker government wasestablished. This step was taken to maintain stability during thetransitional period.

Meanwhile, a separate situation has arisen in Sindh, where differences haveemerged between the Election Commission of Pakistan and the caretakergovernment regarding the transfer of officers. The ECP has communicated tothe Sindh caretaker government that they have not yet received the list ofofficer transfers. In response, sources within the Sindh government haveexplained that the ECP has not yet released the election schedule.Consequently, the list of transfers or permission for such transfers willbe provided once the election schedule is officially announced.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the decision to enforce a ban ontransfers and postings across the province of Sindh was made based ondirectives from the ECP. This decision aligns with the ECP’s efforts toensure fair and transparent elections by maintaining stability inadministrative roles during the lead-up to the election period.
