According to ARY News, a prominent journalist named Fayaz Zafar from Swatwas apprehended by local law enforcement on Wednesday, citing theMaintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO). The Swat police departmentverified the arrest, indicating that Fayaz Zafar, the senior journalist,was detained under the MPO and subsequently moved from the DeputyCommissioner’s office to Swat jail.
The journalist shared with the media that he was taken to the DeputyCommissioner’s office, where he experienced mistreatment. He claimed thathis arrest was a result of his truthful reporting.
Earlier in the same month, another senior journalist, Jan Mohammad Mahar,who served as the Sukkur bureau chief for Kawish Television Network (KTN),was tragically killed by unidentified individuals on August 13.
