CIA Karachi busts a notorious gang in recent operations

KARACHI, Aug 30:In a significant breakthrough, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of theCrime Investigation Agency (CIA) Karachi Police has successfully dismantleda gang responsible for a series of thefts targeting K-Electric’s valuableassets. The operation led to the arrest of a key gang member, marking acrucial step in curbing the recent surge in such incidents.

The saga began on August 14th when a group of 12 armed suspects brazenlyinfiltrated K-Electric’s Jacob Line grid station. Overpowering securitypersonnel and staff, the assailants made off with a haul that included 70meters of copper wire, batteries, electronics, and various equipment. Acase was swiftly registered at the Brigade Police Station, but this wasonly the beginning of a string of similar incidents that plagued theutility company throughout the month.

With no respite from the spree of thefts, authorities handed theinvestigation over to SIU. The unit embarked on a determined mission toidentify and apprehend the culprits behind the orchestrated heists.Employing intelligence networks and tip-offs, SIU honed in on an operativeof the gang, leading to the arrest of Rehman Shah, son of Muhammad Jan, inthe Jamshed Quarters area. Shah’s arrest yielded a wealth of information,uncovering the gang’s involvement in multiple thefts and their cleverconcealment of the stolen goods.

As investigations unfold, the recovered stolen goods, concealed in theKeamari vicinity, shed light on the extent of the gang’s activities. Thelocation of a cache of goods, coupled with a recovered vehicle linked tothe crimes, provides valuable evidence for the ongoing inquiry. The Karachipolice stations have been promptly informed of the developments, while SIUcontinues investigations efforts to unearth further details and accomplicesinvolved in these audacious thefts.
