Bad news for the people as electricity prices are expected to risefurther.Accordingto reports, hike by Rs2.5 per unit is expected in power rates for theconsumers of power distribution companies except Karachi-Electric(K-Electric) while Rs1.49 per unit hike is expected in the rates for theconsumers of K-Electric.
*Both Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and the K-Electric haveseparately submitted their applications for increase in the rates under themonthly fuel adjustment for the month of May. *
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority* (**NEPRA) will hear thepetitions on July 5.*
*According to the CCPA, over 11 billion units of electricity was producedin May, out of which 26.96 was produced from water; 16.78 per cent fromcoal; 1.96 from furnace oil; 10.35 per cent from gas; 24.33 per cent fromimported LNG and 12.56 per cent from nuclear fuel. *
