Some unknown assailants shot dead a prominent cleric in Karachi on Tuesday.
According to police, Maulana Sufi Abdul Qayyum Naqshbandi was going homeafter saying Fajr prayers in a mosque when he was waylaid by someassailants riding on a motorcycle in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 9, MagsiChowk. The assailants shot him in the head, killing him on the spot.
The cleric was killed outside his home.
The dead body of the Maulana was sent to Jinnah Hospital, Karachi forautopsy.
Maulana Sufi was the principal of Madrasa Noorani Islamic Centre. He wasalso the chairman of Pakistan Ulema Association.
