The federal government on Wednesday moved to the Islamabad High Courtseeking cancellation of bail granted to PTI leader Senator Azam Swati inhis controversial tweet case.
The federal government submitted its petition through Anisur Rehman, thetechnical officer of the FIA which is complainant in the case.
It is stated in the petition that the special judge central in excess ofhis powers granted bail to Swati. Apart from the Peca 2016, the judge alsogranted bail to the accused in other sections.
The petition beseeches the IHC to withdraw the special judge’s bail orderafter declaring it illegal.
Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi filed the petition.
Senator Swati has been made respondent in the petition.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Swati called upon Chief Justice ofPakistan Umar Ata Bandial to investigate the matter of his ‘custodialtorture’. He also urged upon Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwato look into his claim. He alleged that during his detention, he wasstripped and tortured.
