Pakistan Army seeks strong action against elements hurling allegations on institution over killing of Arshad Sharif

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan armed forces have sent a letter to the incumbentgovernment for a judicial commission to probe the killing of seniorjournalist and TV host Arshad Sharif.

Reports in local media said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesdaydecided to form a judicial commission to be headed by a high court judgeafter receiving a letter from the headquarters of the Pakistan Army.

The armed forces also requested legal action against those hurlingallegations at the institutions.

The Judicial Commission head would pick members from civil society and themedia to review the facts, the Information minister said.

Earlier, journalist bodies and human right activists raised questions aboutKenyan cops’ claims about the extrajudicial killing of Arshad Sharif, wholeft his homeland after being charged with sedition cases.

The wife of a 49-year-old first took to Twitter and confirmed the tragicnews, acknowledging that her husband was killed in Kenya.

Later, Kenyan police told local news that Pakistani journalist ArshadSharif was shot dead in a case of ‘mistaken identity’ along theNairobi-Magadi highway.
