Former PM Nawaz Sharif faces a worst setback

“A proposal was made by the reconciliation group within the PMLN to stopreturn back of Nawaz Sharif. It is being reported in the media that a groupis not supporting Nawaz Sharif’s return, which is advocating for aconciliatory policy within the PML-N, is actively working to delay NawazSharif’s return.

However, Nawaz Sharif has refrained from giving an immediate response tothis proposal. The reconciliatory group’s position is that the generalpublic, troubled by inflation and unemployment, is not very interested inNawaz Sharif’s return. Nawaz Sharif may face public backlash over theextreme inflation in 16 months of PDM government.

Instead, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have initiated a public outreachcampaign in Lahore to gauge the public’s pulse. In these circumstances, expecting a grand reception for Nawaz Sharif from the public is notappropriate, especially since the date for the general elections has notbeen announced yet.

It is better for Nawaz Sharif to return closer to the election or after theannouncement of its formal date. Another group within the party believesthat preparations for Nawaz Sharif’s return have already been made, and theparty has been instructed to prepare for his reception.

If Nawaz Sharif’s return is delayed, it will not have a significant impacton the public. Recently, Shahbaz Sharif, the President of the PakistanMuslim League (N) and former Prime Minister, had stated that Nawaz Sharifwould focus on resolving economic issues upon his return. The (N) Leaguehas always prioritized state over politics. He expressed these views duringa meeting with Lahore and Punjab Traders Associations’ representatives anddelegates.”
