On Wednesday, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) stated that the establishment had accepted Nawaz Sharif’sperspective, withdrawing from active involvement in politics.
PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, during a press conference, emphasizedthat the narrative of the former three-time prime minister had gainedacceptance, and the establishment openly declared its intention not tointerfere in politics any longer. Iqbal expressed the view that both theestablishment and the judiciary should collaborate to drive the country’seconomy forward.
He argued that Pakistan could not endure another experiment, asserting thatthe solution to the nation’s problems lies in electing an experiencedpolitician like Nawaz back into power. The senior PML-N leader furtheremphasized the importance of all stakeholders adhering to theirconstitutional boundaries, emphasizing that all state institutions areassets of Pakistan.
The PML-N’s previous focus on holding powerful individuals accountable,which it claimed were responsible for Nawaz’s removal in 2017, has nowshifted towards revitalizing the country’s struggling economy. Withelections scheduled for the end of January, the PML-N has initiated itselection campaign, with Nawaz’s anticipated return from self-exile inLondon since 2019 playing a significant role.
The PML-N leader, who was disqualified in the Panama Papers case in 2017,is expected to arrive in Lahore on October 21 and address a rally atMinar-e-Pakistan before facing pending court cases.
In a later rally, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif reassured that Nawaz’sreturn to Pakistan is not for revenge but to “rescue” the country from itscurrent crisis. Shehbaz reiterated his brother’s homecoming on October 21,emphasizing Nawaz’s commitment to serving the people of Pakistan andreigniting the journey towards prosperity.
