In Karachi, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued an order on Tuesdayinstructing the police to officially document the disappearance of PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar, as reported by ARY News.
This directive was issued in response to a petition filed in the highcourt, and the police were told to register the case by today, with areport due on October 18. Barrister Ali Tahir, representing the petitioner,reminded the court that they had previously instructed the police to filethe missing person case.
However, the court expressed frustration with the police for notregistering the case and questioned why the applicant hadn’t approached thepolice directly. Barrister Ali Tahir further stated that the caretaker homeminister of Sindh had previously admitted that Usman Dar was in policecustody, but the police now claimed he was not detained.
The court ordered the case to be filed, promising a thorough investigationto uncover the truth. Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto also called for awritten response from the home secretary of Sindh by October 18.
The initial petition had been filed in the high court alleging that UsmanDar, the former SAPM, was abducted by unidentified individuals in plainclothes in Malir, Karachi. The petitioner, Kamran, a close relative ofUsman Dar, had requested a production order for the detained PTI leader,with IG Sindh Police and others named as respondents in the petition.
