Top PMLN leader opens a new pendora box against former DG ISI

General Faiz Hameed, the former spymaster, was insistent on participatingin the Faizabad sit-in agreement, which ultimately put an end to more than20 days of nationwide protests in 2017, according to Ahsan Iqbal, a leaderfrom the PML-N party.

Ahsan Iqbal, in an interview with Hamid Mir on Geo News’ Capital Talk,revealed that he had discussed the situation with the Prime Minister at thetime.

The Prime Minister expressed reservations about General Faiz Hameed, theformer Inter-Services Intelligence chief, signing the agreement, as it wasa political document and his signature might not be appropriate. However,General Faiz Hameed insisted that the other party, composed of variousreligious groups, wanted his signature on the agreement.

This discussion pertains to the army-brokered deal that resolved thesit-in, which had blocked the main road connecting Islamabad to othercities, and took place on November 27, 2017.
