Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has confirmed thatAfghanistan has informed them about the arrest of Pakistani Talibanmembers. He made this statement during a news conference in Islamabad onThursday.

He stated, “As far as media reports related to Afghanistan are concerned, they have mostly been shared with us, and if they are Afghan citizens, wewill not demand their extradition, but we would like them to be punishedaccording to the law.”

However, he did not provide details about the number or identity of thearrested individuals. Media reports had previously mentioned the arrest ofabout 200 Pakistani Taliban members in Afghanistan.

Jalil Abbas mentioned, “Pakistan will take all necessary measures for itssovereignty and the protection of its borders, and all options are open forthat. I don’t want to go into detail on that.”

Regarding the recent visit of Pakistan’s special envoy, Asif Durani, toKabul, when asked about it during a question-answer session, the ForeignMinister said, “I have just returned from New York, and I am not aware ofthe details of the meeting, but the meeting there was quite productive.”

The relationship between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan became strainedwhen, a few weeks ago in Chitral, Pakistani authorities accused Afghanistanof cross-border shelling, resulting in the deaths of four militarypersonnel.

Following this incident, the Afghan Taliban’s spokesperson, ZabihullahMujahid, had informed Independent Urdu that this was Pakistan’s internalmatter, and Pakistan was responsible for its security.

Zabihullah further stated that they would not allow Afghanistan’s land tobe used against anyone, and the allegations regarding the Chitral incidentwere entirely baseless.
