Senior leader of the Muslim League (N) and former Defense Minister KhawajaAsif has said that General Bajwa’s extension was offered in exchange forthe support of the Punjab and federal governments.
During a private TV interview, Khawaja Asif stated that there is no logicaljustification for supporting General Bajwa’s extension, and the partyleadership felt that it should have been linked to the decision on the ArmyChief’s extension.
He mentioned that his return favor for General Bajwa’s extension decisionwas made in a written statement. Khawaja Asif said, “The decision was madea few months before the voting took place. There is no ambiguity. I saidthere’s no ambiguity. They asked me in writing what I wanted, and in June,we took over the Punjab government, and a few months later, in December, wetook over the federal government.
