The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced a significantthree-year central contracts agreement with their senior players, whichwill be in effect from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026. This dealencompasses 25 cricketers and incorporates a portion of ICC revenue.
In contrast to the previous year, the red-ball and white-ball nationalcontracts have been consolidated. This decision, suggested by the centralcontract committee, aims to evaluate players based on their ability tocontribute to match victories and promote a fair and transparent selectionprocess.
The players will be categorized into four groups with substantial increasesin monthly retainers, and ICC revenue will be integrated into their overallmonthly earnings:
– Category A (3 players): 202% Total pay will be 4.5 million per month- Category B (6 players): 144% Total pay will be 3 million per month- Category C (2 players): 135% Totalpay will be 2 million per month- Category D (14 players): 127%
The contracted players, along with their respective categories, are asfollows:
Category A: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah AfridiCategory B: Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, NaseemShah, and Shadab KhanCategory C: Imad Wasim and Abdullah ShafiqueCategory D: Fahim Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, MohammadHaris, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmad, SaudShakeel, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shan Masood, Usama Mir, and Zaman Khan
Furthermore, players’ match fees will witness significant increments, witha 50% raise in Test matches, 25% in ODIs, and 12.5% in T20Is. Centrallycontracted players participating in domestic cricket will receive 50% ofthe international match fee and will be permitted to participate in twoforeign leagues per season.
While the financial model for the three-year contract period remains fixed,player performance evaluations will occur every 12 months. The transitionfrom the previous central contract cycle, which ended on June 30, will takeeffect on July 1, 2023.
