Imran Khan’s relocation from Attock district prison to Adiala Jail inRawalpindi came as a result of a directive issued by the Islamabad HighCourt (IHC). This significant move was confirmed by Adiala Jailauthorities, who reported the transfer occurring under tight policesecurity.
A video shared by the PTI on social media depicted party supportersshowering rose petals on the police convoy transporting Imran near theIslamabad Toll Plaza. Official sources disclosed that Imran Khan had beenassigned a high-security B-Class barrack in Adiala Jail, a facilitypreviously occupied by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Moreover, it wasclarified that Imran would receive court-directed facilities, including anattached bathroom in his prison quarters and 24/7 access to a prisonservice facility.
Curiously, just one day prior to the transfer, Imran Khan’s lawyer hadstated that the PTI chairman had adapted to life in Attock prison.Barrister Umair Niazi, speaking to journalists, made a U-turn from thePTI’s previous stance in the Islamabad High Court, explaining that Imranhad acclimated himself to the conditions in Attock jail, stating, “Afterall jail is jail.
I am fine in Attock jail.” However, on Monday, Khan’s legal team hadrequested the IHC to provide their client with an exercise machine duringhis incarceration.
The Islamabad High Court further solidified the decision by issuing awritten order regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to Adiala Jail from DistrictJail Attock. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq authored the order, whichofficially terminated the notification for Imran Khan’s placement in AttockJail.
The court emphasized that all facilities prescribed by the rules must beprovided to the accused during his time in jail. This legal developmentmarked a significant chapter in Imran Khan’s ongoing legal proceedings, capturing the attention of the public and political observers alike.
