A big disadvantage for team Pakistan in Cricket World Cup 2023

Pakistan is gearing up to take part in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, commencing on October 5 in India. The two nations have not engaged in a bilateral series for an extended period.

For most members of the Pakistani squad, this will mark their maiden appearance in the neighboring country. This could lead to problems for the current squad as they would have to adapt quickly to the hostile atmosphere. The last time Pakistan and India faced off in a bilateral series, in any format, was during the 2012-13 season. Pakistan’s previous tour to India included an ODI and T20I series, with a Test match back in 2007.

Within the current Pakistani World Cup squad, only Mohammad Nawaz and Salman Ali Agha have prior experience touring India. Nawaz made the trip to India in 2016 for the ICC World Twenty20, although he did not feature in any matches during the tournament.

As for Agha, he took part in a Champions League match in India as a member of the Lahore Lions squad. His involvement was limited to one match against the Dolphins, where he scored one run from three deliveries.

It’s worth noting that the majority of the team will be stepping onto Indian soil for the first time. Despite the impending mega tournament, the strained relations between the two countries have led to the Indian government not yet granting visas for the Pakistani team.
