The contentious news about recognizing the Jewish state of Israel is onceagain making headlines. When Saudi Arabia enters into a treaty with Israel,which other Islamic countries might join in this endeavor? Israeli ForeignMinister Eli Cohen has stated that if Israel signs a peace treaty withSaudi Arabia, up to eight or seven more Muslim countries could potentiallysign peace agreements with Israel.
According to international news agency Jerusalem Post, Eli Cohen made thisstatement on Friday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’saddress to the United Nations General Assembly.
Reportedly, peace with Saudi Arabia would mean peace with a broader Muslimworld.
The Israeli Foreign Minister mentioned that he has met with at least eightother Muslim countries, but their relations with those important Muslimnations are not focused on peace. These countries are located in Africa andAsia, but they did not disclose the names initially, later stating thatthey had maintained direct contact with some of them.
