PML-N Leader Marriyum Aurangzeb lands in hot waters

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has issued a summons for PML-N leadersMarriyum Aurangzeb and Javed Latif to appear on September 30 in a caserelated to provocative speeches.

The order was made by ATC judge Abher Gul Khan during a Saturday hearing.The court dismissed the discharge report submitted by the police andinstead called upon Aurangzeb and Latif to appear on September 30.

On September 14, 2022, a terrorism case was registered against Aurangzeband Latif in Lahore for allegedly “using religion to incite and propagatehatred” against PTI chief Imran Khan.

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed by a citizen at Green TownPolice Station in Lahore and was filed under sections 9 (punishment foracts intended or likely to stir up sectarian hatred) and 11X-3(responsibility for creating civil commotion) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The complainant noted that the press conference was broadcast on nationaltelevision and shared a copy of the FIR, stating that he had come acrossLatif’s press conference on September 14 in which he made troublingaccusations against Imran Khan in the name of religion.
