On Friday, the caretaker federal government designated Dr. Amjad Saqib asthe Chairman of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). President Dr.Arif Alvi gave his approval for this appointment in accordance with section53 of the Benazir Income Support Program Act 2010.
Dr. Amjad Saqib, the founder of the microfinance program Akhuwat, has alsobeen nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year for his remarkablehumanitarian efforts in combating poverty.
Notably, 343 individuals from various parts of the world were nominated forthis year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Amjad, the Chairman of AkhuwatFoundation, expressed that his dedication lies in serving humanity for thesake of Allah, surpassing the need for awards.
