New Gwadar International Airport inauguration date revealed

The opening of the new Gwadar International Airport, constructed as part ofthe China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has faced a one-year delay.

A reliable insider from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) informed ARYNews that the originally scheduled inauguration of the new Gwadar Airportfor this month has been postponed due to technical issues.

Reports indicate that the delay stems from the late arrival of airportequipment and technology from China to Pakistan, with these goods expectedto reach Gwadar by sea later this month.

Sources suggest that Chinese authorities have set June 2024 as the newinauguration date for the airport, with full operational readiness targetedfor completion by 2025.

Situated 26 kilometers northeast of the existing Gwadar airport, the newairport project was allocated 3,000 acres of land by the Pakistanigovernment. Similar to the new Islamabad Airport, the Gwadar Airport isPakistan’s second greenfield airport.

Once operational, it will have the capacity to serve various aircraft, including ATR 72, Airbus (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747),catering to both domestic and international routes
