Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi expressed Pakistan’s lack of astonishment inresponse to Canada’s accusations regarding the alleged involvement of theIndian government in the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjarin British Columbia this June. Emphasizing Pakistan’s perspective, the foreign secretary highlighted thathis nation found nothing particularly unconventional in the allegationsmade by the Canadian Prime Minister. He pointed to Pakistan’s previousapprehension of an Indian naval officer, Kulbhushan Yadav, who was capturedin Balochistan in March 2016 and identified as an operative of the IndianResearch and Analysis Wing (RAW). In his view, India was actively involvedin destabilizing Pakistan, and Qazi affirmed, “If anyone in the world isaware of Indian activities, it is us, Pakistan.”

On the other side of this international dispute, Canadian Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau maintained that his government was diligently pursuingcredible evidence linking agents from New Delhi to the murder of the Sikhseparatist leader.
