Imran Riaz Khan case: Positive development reported

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the deadline until September 26for Punjab’s Inspector General (IG) to locate anchorperson ImranRiaz.Present at the high court hearing were IG Punjab Usman Anwar, as wellas AIG, DIG, and other police officials.

The high court bench, led by Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti, heard a petitionfrom the missing journalist’s father, who has been seeking his son’srecovery since his arrest in Sialkot on May 11. Chief Justice Ameer Bhattiwarned that if Imran Riaz is not produced in court by the specified date, acourt order will be issued, expressing frustration with the delay.

The petitioner’s lawyer also voiced impatience and requested a 24-hourultimatum. The IGP requested more time to comply with the court order, butthe chief justice reminded him that they had already granted five monthsfor this matter.

In a previous hearing, the Punjab police chief had given 13 days for ImranRiaz’s recovery, promising “good news in the next 10 to 15 days.
